ME 15 L1: COMPUTATIONAL METHODS LAB

Syllabus

Review of fundamentals of C programming, Pointers-pointer declaration-pointers and one dimensional arrayspointers and functions, Data files- opening and closing a data file-creating a data file- processing a data file. Cgraphics- drawing lines, rectangles, circles and ellipse, Numerical Techniques: Preparation of computer programs for solution of polynomial and transcendental equations: bisection method, regula falsi method, successive iteration- Newton Raphson method. Solution of system linear algebraic equations : Gauss elimination- matrix inversion, Gauss Jordan method, Gauss-Seidel method. Numerical integration : trapezoidal rule- Simpson’s 1/3 rule- Gauss quadrature formulae Numerical solution of ordinary differential equations : Taylor series method- Runge- kutta method Numerical solution of boundary value problems.

Note : 50 % marks is earmarked for continuous evaluation, and 50% marks for end semester examination to be conducted by two examiners. A candidate shall secure a minimum of 50 % marks in the aggregate and 50 % minimum in the end semester examination for a pass
